I was a minor when my parents returned from Canada to India. Being a minor i had no option but to return with them .This march I turned 18 .Now,I want to go back to Canada and apply for re-immigration.Please help, i am not able to understand how to do it.

Good news:
  • You started a conversation
  • You are a PR as of now
  • You are guaranteed at least one entry to Canada
  • You can enter Canada by land via USA(Best possible route)
  • PRTD is an alternate route(Not my area of expertise, so just this comment)
What you should be thinking:
  • How to enter Canada?
  • Do I have Landing papers?

A better plan is to apply for a PRTD (permanent resident travel document) under H&C. As you removed as a minor, and you are 18, there is a very high rate of approval. This allows you to return to Canada and apply for a new pr card right away. Entering through the US, you would likely have to wait longer to renew. Start here:

As the other have mentioned, you do have a H&C case that can result in retention of status. Writing this as your post mentioned "re-immigration." Just to clarify, you don't need to immigrate again to Canada as you are already a permanent resident. What you need is a travel document that will allow you to:

1: Get on a plane to Canada.

2: get a new PR card.

That is what the PRTD is. You can apply for one on H&C grounds (removed as a minor) to overcome your violation of the residency obligation. (2/5 years.)

To apply for a PRTD, you can get the application online. (Link attached for convenience.)

After completing the forms, submit it to your local VFS office that will handle the rest of the process. Once granted (which as others said is the most likely outcome) you can travel to Canada to live.

Other than the PRTD application, you should also be planning what you will do once in Canada. (Because you must live in Canada and be very careful about foreign travel,)

You should also apply as soon as possible once you turn 18. If you wait for a few years and then apply your chances of approval for a PRTD under H&C will be less likely. You will also need to be prepared to relocate and live in Canada without your family.
