Hello!

My PR card expired 2 years ago and I spent only ~6 days in Canada during the time my PR card was valid. I never went back and my PR status should still be valid (not the card though).

Now, my current company wants to transfer me to Canada. Here are my quesions:

1. Can I apply for an ICT work permit and keep my PR status?
2. If I do that and ICT gets approved and I start living in Canada, can I renew my PR after being back in canada on ICT for 730 days?
3. Do I need to renounce my PR status to get the ICT?

Thank you for your help!

Edit: Correction - I spent ~6 days on PR card, the rest 50 days were on tourist visa before I got my PR

1. No.You are still PR.
2. No. You cannot get a work permit.
3. Yes.

Apply for PRTD or enter Canada through US land border.

The bigger issue is if you are able to enter without being reported you may not be able to get a driver’s license, apply for healthcare, your family may not be able to join you for quite some time if you got married or had a child, etc. If you enter and aren’t reported you should plan on remaining in Canada until you are compliant with your RO.
