In the event one is approved for PR, but for some reason needs an additional year before landing, what happens? Can put it on hold? Has to re-apply? etc? tks.

Use it or lose it.

If you can't land before the visa expiry date, you have to start the application process again from scratch. Extensions are not granted.

If you need to stay in Korea for an extra year, then after getting COPR the applicant needs to officially "land" in Canada, and then you can immediately fly back to Korea. You need to land, but you don't need to actually move here right away.

Okay, good to know. I was just wondering what people would do if their PR is approved and for some unknown unforeseeable reason had to stay for an additional year for whatever reason. tks.

Plzzzzz dont be fool to loose your visa for any other reason. bcoz i know how much my husband & my self worrying to get together in canada as hes a canadian citizen & i'm still waiting for my visa. it has taken 2 1\2 years & still not done yet. so, if you want, land in canada 1st then come back for your reason.
