How have you applied for PR? As a refugee or through a different immigration stream?

I applied as a protected person in Canada.

In that case, most likely not. That could put the applicant or their family at risk in their home country.
Of course, if you are talking about Canadian employment, there would be little point anyway.

What I meant to say is, when they go to ones country of origin, will they check?

Those in charge of background check for Canadian immigration. I mean they said they are processing my background check.

If you are a refugee from a hostile home country, I'm not sure if they can reliably do background checks there. Nobody knows exactly what they check or how. However, your past employment is not likely to be investigated unless you have committed crimes or human rights violations.
