Hello.
I have recently received positive decision on my hearing. I will apply for Permanent Residence, but i have some questions.
My representative is going to apply behalf of me, as you all know that application process is taking years. I want to be able to track status and updates, even the things like background check, other things etc. Is there a possibility that i can link this application to a government portal like GCKey or should i create another Permanent residence portal? I don't know what to do, thank you.

only your representative can link the application to his portal because you authorized him and he should give you updates always.you can get update also by request gcms notes or by calling ircc agent.

Let him apply for you but put your email and number, so you can be able to link it later on gckey and track it by yourself. Don’t waste your time with a third party as you don’t need to, i did the same too.

Hi, so you mean he will use his representative account on pr portal, but in application he will put my email, right? Or he should create an account to my name with my email address and password then apply with that and give me that account?

Filing for PR is not that difficult and will save you money. You can even pay for a lawyer or consultant review the application before you submit it. They would be less costly. If you’re able to it would be best to apply yourself and then also have access to your file.

As @canuck78 said, don't bother with a lawyer or representative for PR, it's easy enough for you to handle yourself.
And from my friends' and family's experience, it may be better for you to do it yourself because, I've heard many horror stories of lawyers messing up simple things.
