I am applying for Permanent Residency via Express Entry.
My first name appears with a slightly different spelling on some of my documents (one letter less compared to the spelling shown on my passport). In my mother tongue (french), both spellings are pronounced in the exact same way.
This variation has been used informally for many years, particularly on school and employment records, even though it was never an official name change. The correct spelling is the one shown on my passport and birth certificate.
I have worked for the same employer for over ten years under the same NOC, and this spelling difference has never affected my identity or employment continuity.
Also, my educational credential assessment was issued using the spelling found on my school documents as my given name, and the passport spelling appears as a middle name.
Since there has never been an official name change, I answered “No” to the question 'Has this person ever used another name', asked at the beginning of the application form.
Is it the right choice to make here?
