In a bit of a tricky situation. Need help!

I was working with a Canadian employer under my Post Graduate Work Permit. When my visa was close to expiry, my employer offered to sponsor me through LMIA and a new work permit. Due to time constraints, we applied for the work permit and LMIA at the same time. Unfortunately, the work permit rejection came before we could attach the positive LMIA to the application. My status expired on Feb 27, 2020.

I received a provincial nomination under the Human Capital Priorities stream and applied for my Permanent Residency today, April 6th, 2020. I've also applied for a ‘restoration of status as a visitor’ so that I can remain in Canada, while my application for permanent residency is being processed.

So here is my question:

I just noticed on Canada Immigration website that applicants, who are waiting for their PR to be processed, are eligible to apply for work permit. Is it possible to change my application from ‘restoration of status as a visitor’ to ‘restoration of status as a worker’? Should I submit a new application?

Thanks in advance!

I am assuming you are talking about the Bridging Open Work Permit program. Unfortunately, one of the requirements to be eligible for that program is to hold a valid work permit at the time you apply for the BOWP. So no, you are not currently eligible for that.
