PR application fees

My spouse and I are not able to pay the application fees right now. Can we send in the application for PR now and the proof of payment after? Will it be ok? Has anyone done this before? Please help? Any Advice?

No fees with the application, it will be returned. CIC doesn't have a pay later plan (except for the right of permanent residency fee)
