Pr application approved but..

My pr application online says its approved (applied under CEC category) and i have submitted my passport as well for the issuance of the permanent resident visa. But in my online account, it says that the document is valid till 2018-03-05.

What kind of approval is this?

Isnt PR valid for 5 years? Can somebody explain?

Also, my passport is expiring on 2018 - May 31. But the validity date doesnt even match with the expiry of my passport? Whats going on?
 
You're most likely talking about confirmation of permanent residency, you have to do your landing before such document expires.

The validity is usually a year from medicals or the date of passport expiry, whichever is earlier.
 
I am already in Canada on work permit. I applied under CEC category.

even you are IN CANADA, you still have to do the LANDING PROCESS at the border or at the office by appointment. When you do landing, you can get your PR CARD, which will show u the 5 yrs expiration as u said. ...So u should go and do LANDING NOW.
 
It's one year anniversary of your medical before which you need to enter canada by going out as permanent resident.

My application got approved on Jan 28th. Need to know how long does it take for CIC to return our passports with the PR visa as well as CoPR? Thank you for your time.

Depends on the visa office, in our case, we sent on the 19th of december, we just got them back on tuesday.
 
Hi Guys, looking for some help.

I got a Pre-email Invitation from IRCC for IRCC PR Confirmation Portal. I am not in Canada right now. What should I do? I have to travel back to Canada in December. Should i inform IRCC of my current location or should i wait to enter Canada ( i have visitor visa).

Will my Visitor visa be still valid after this PR Confirmation portal email. Please suggest what to do.
