hey guys
im just kinda curious about somethings, my husband got his PPR on the 20th of december and the email said they will be issuing it in january.
why is this, why not just issue it in dec? also his medicals expire on the 11th so do you think it will be here in time or will they forget it and focus on other applications??
has anyone ever heard of someone getting their visa after it expires? were reallyworried because the mailing system here isent that great and the office is closed a few days during the holidays.

they probably said January due to the holidays and usually the VISA is issued before the medical expires

Your husband's Confirmation of Permanent Residence will have an expiration date on it that coincides with the one year anniversary of his medical examination. He has to travel to Canada and "land" at a Canadian port of entry before that date or the COPR is invalidated, and he would have to start a whole new application for PR. For this reason, if the embassy does not think that the medical expiration allows enough time for the applicant to "land", they will either extend the medical results for another year, or ask him to do a new medical. That said, I have seen a couple of cases on these forums where people were given impossible timelines to accomplish their landing. Fortunately that is not the "norm", and you shouldn't expect it to be the case in your situation either. If you're very concerned, contact your Member of Parliament and his/her office should be able to find out for you through the Minister's office.

thanks guys for answering, do you know why they would of wrote they will issue it in january? why not just issue it now if theyve asked for his passport since his medicals expire on the 11th of jan

They move slowly and it's a holiday season.

if they end up sending it after his medicals epire, and its their fault would we still have to go through the whole process again?

Theoretically, yes. However, my medicals would have expired in November, my visa was issued in October, and it had an expiry date in May. So who knows how they think? :)
