I have sent in my passport july 12 2013

While waiting to hear back I have been going through my belongings, I was wondering if I needed to list pictures and papers and is there a list for specific articles that need to be listed as most of what I have left are just personal effects and maybe some movies, music cds, christmas decor and things of that nature

When you immigrate to Canada, basically you provide two lists to the customs/ immigration officer: 1) Good that you are carrying with you and 2) Good that will follow (goods that you didn't bring with you but may bring within 1 year or goods that will be mailed with you). One purpose of these lists is for you to bring your belongings and goods tax free as a new immigrant.

You do not need to list pictures/ papers/ dvds that are personal in nature as their is basically no monetary value to the. You can list any items such as disc, dvd, camera etc. and put an estimated value if you want to in any of the lists.

As we know dvds and music cds really have no value after purchased and opened lol
