Hi everyone,

We are May applicants for outland spousal sponsorship (I am sponsoring my husband). Just passed medical a few days ago. Things are moving along!

My husband is planning on visiting family outside his home country from September through to January, as he has a tourist visa to the US. If he gets PPR during this time, which might happen, can he send it through VFS office in Houston even though he is Serbian and applying through Vienna office (so typically would send from Belgrade)?

Alternatively, are you able to extend the 30 days for the request if it happens in the time period he is travelling and needs his passport?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Typically, applicants in the US would not submit through a VFS office, but rather would send to Ottawa using FedEx. I believe this would be the simplest solution. (If outland applicants are visiting Canada when they receive their PPR, they submit to Ottawa as well, even if request comes from the originating VO). If he received his PPR while visiting the US, he could contact the VO and request permission to submit to Ottawa instead.
