PPR received Passport expires in 7 months

hi everyone, I got PPR received on Feb 3rd in EE.

I sent the copy of my passport yesterday but my passport expires on Sep 08 2016.

Can I renew my passport and bring the new passport to the border for boarding?

I heard my passport number changes once i renew it.

Do you think I need to wait for my passport renew or go for renew?

I need your help. Thank you.

Did your PPR letter say how long the validity of your passport should be when you submit it?
In some cases, they will return it if it's under 12 months and ask you to submit a new passport.

In my opinion you should call CIC and explain your situation and take it from there. They might have option to transfer your visa from old passport to new passport. Best is to take CIC advice.
No way you should travel with your new passport and visa attached to your old passport.

If you renew your passport before your visa expires, you should be able to transfer it over. My husband renewed his work permit for a further year but they could only do it up to the expiry date of his passport. We were told by CBSA agent that if he renewed his passport before the permit expired then the permit would be transferred into new passport - I'm assuming the same would happen with a COPR but as other have said, check with CIC.

if its more thn 3 months you dont have to worry about. its still good and send your passport to cic.

Hello friend,

I have a similar issue. When I applied for Express Entry, I had more than 1 year and 2 months for my express entry. I am expecting PPR anytime now and my passport expires in around 11 months. How did you deal with this issue. Many thanks.
