Hello there everyone! Looks like a very helpful forum, I would like to share my timeline with you all for this journey! Just some basic info about me then a couple of questions:

I have completed my Family Class sponsorship for my spouse (wife), who is living in the Philippines. We have been married one year now, I have been to the Phils twice to see her (8 weeks, then 6).
I was Born in Canada, Canadian Citizen. Lived here my whole life.

We tried to get her over here on a tourist visa then do the Inland application - But that was denied. So now, we are just going to do the outland application. I have some questions about myself though..

1.I miss my wife very much, and as much as I would love to just live down there with her until she is cleared to come here, I cannot financially do that. However, I would be willing to work either there, or even in another country she is more free to enter. Would me going to say, South Korea, to teach English on a work visa, impact our application in any way? We would live together there until the process is complete. I haven't even heard back from the CIC yet (I just mailed it a couple weeks ago), at what point would it be safe for myself to leave the country, if at all?

Would re-applying for a tourist visa to Canada for my wife now that the application is in be advisable as an alternative? Or, would it just fail like last attempt (I did the letter of invitation and got it notarized and mailed it down there, but no luck)

If you have any suggestions or feedback I will greatly appreciate it, thanks!

Hi

As a Canadian citizen, there is no requirement to be in Canada while the app processes; you can leave whenever you want.

There would be even less chance of her being approved for a TRV now that you've submitted a sponsorship application. You can try but chances of refusal are quite high.

Thanks for your help canuck_in_uk!

A followup question: If I were to be with my wife and we are in macau or south korea (somewhere not in the Phils), and the time comes that she needs her medical, could we do it from the country we are in? Or would she have to go back to Manila to do the medical...

Thanks again

She should have done the medical beforehand and submitted the receipt with the sponsorship application. It can be done anywhere as long as it's with a Panel Physician but I would suggest she does it ASAP instead of waiting.
