What do they mean when in the document checklist, they say "Police Certificate (multiple) required" and "Passports/Travel documents (multiple) required" ? They also request these things for my common law partner too.

It is a generic message. It need not apply in every case. Upload as many PCC(s) and Passport(s) as apply in your case. Same holds for your common law partner.
