Hello,

I have a 3-year post graduation work permit which is expires in a month from now. I am currently employed, and waiting for PR application (Canadian Experience Class - Express Entry) to be processed.
according to the following links, I have to apply for a "bridging work permit" to be able to continue working in Canada:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=676&top=29
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/extend-permit/bridging-open-work-permit.html?_ga=2.137503856.1187749094.1536546411-1677563425.1480465539

The problem is that, when I take the eligibility questionnaire to find out whether I am eligible to apply online or not, at the very end, it tells me I have to have LMIA to be able to apply! and I am pretty sure, I dont need that for the bridging work permit. I was wondering if someone has had the same experience and can help me with this matter please.

Also, I am wondering what happens if I'm unemployed and I want to stay in Canada while my PR application is being processed ?

Thanks alot in advance!

You must be giving an incorrect answer to one of the questions. There's a question from the old days (before Express Entry) that doesn't make a lot of sense now - it is something like "Have you been informed that you have been approved in principle for your PR application?" You have to answer "Yes" to that question. Under EE, getting the AOR meets that criterium.

Also, I am wondering what happens if I'm unemployed and I want to stay in Canada while my PR application is being processed ?

Regardless, you need to maintain your status to remain in Canada, or leave when your permit expires.
As long as you meet the criteria for the BOWP, it does not matter whether or not you are employed.
Another option is to apply to change to a visitor's permit, but that would make it difficult to find a new job.
