Post graduation work permit confusion

Okay, I have completed my studies now and possess a US visa. I know I can get same-day visa at Buffalo office but I am confused do I need to apply for post-graduation work permit online and wait for the permit to arrive by mail before going to Buffalo office or can I simply take my transcripts directly to Buffalo office and they will give me a visa??

I am assuming that you still have student status in Canada.

You need to apply online for post-graduation work permit if you are eligible for one within 90 days of completing your study program. You can also send the paper application for post-graduation work permit to CIC Vegreville office.

Your status will be changed from student to temporary foreign worker once your application for post-graduation work permit is approved.

Just apply online and wait for the work permit to arrive at your mailing address.
