Hi everyone!

I have been working in Canada for almost a year with my post-graduate work permit. I'm going to apply for Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Program but it seems my work permit expires before I can get a provincial nomination.

I need to find some way to get a new work permit. My employer is interested too. We considered an LMIA option but it seems it has low chances for success because my wage doesn't meet occupation/location median wage.

Am I able to apply for an open work permit?

Appreciate any advice!

In order to qualify for an open work permit, you would need to have already submitted a PR application and have either received AOR or been nominated by a province.

What is AOR?

Acknowledgment of Receipt.

It's what you receive after you have applied for PR and CIC has reviewed your application and confirmed that it's complete.

Got it. Do you know how much time does it usually take CIC to provide AOR after getting the PP application?
