Please guide me if anyone has the same situation. I have applied for my post grad work permit on May 30th, since then I haven’t received any updates of my visa status. My current student visa and multiple entry visa are valid until August 31. I have to really go home and see my family and the question is, if I travel now for a month while my application is still in the process and return a day or two days before my multiple entry visa expires, will they allow me back? I just don’t want to put myself at risk in case if officer won’t allow me to enter Canada for any reason

You can leave and return if your study permit and TRV is valid. In this case your study permit is proof of status and TRV allows you to return to Canada. If your study permit expires, then you can only come back to Canada after your PGWP is approved and you apply for a new TRV.

As ling as TRV is valid you can come back even with expired study permit as you are on implied work permit. Exactly what will happen at airport is a question you might be told to apply again i.e do a flagpole or you might be allowed in as a visitor.

Thank you for your answer and one more question, if the work permit will still be in the process, I am aware that I won’t be allowed to continue working, will the officer ask for proof of income while waiting for post grad work permit?

Thank you for your response, and how about biometrics? If I will be out of Canada and if they require biometrics, how to get them? Did you get it in the past?

Biometrics is valid for 10 years. If you apply within Canada, and need to submit biometrics, you will have to do it at the nearest VFS office you can go to.

On my cic account they haven’t requested yet, so I should just wait for them right?

They might ask for proof of funds yes.

You cant do biometrics in Canada at all so if you need biometrics its better to stay where you are, but if you gave these for your study permit they should still be valid.

Did you give biometrics when you applied for study permit ?

No I did not and on my application, there is a section “biometrics” and it says “we don’t your fingerprints and if it changes we will send you a message if it changes”. Does it really mean that I don’t need?

Can I do it after I leave and in my country? I found we have one VFS office

No, that will change to biometrics required. You will get a biometrics enrollment letter and you have to take that to VFS.

Should I pay the fee first to get a biometrics letter or just wait until it changes to “required”? The last question:) how much funds on my bank account will be enough to show if in case they ask for proof of funds? Thanks a lot for all your help

You will have to pay the biometrics fee for them to ask you for your biometrics. If you haven't paid the biometric feel along your study permit, then you will need to do so in order to proceed with your application. Proof of funds should be entire tution fees for duration of program + 10,000 CAD living expenses for the first year.
