Hello people,

Please assist me with addressing my concern on a possible future refusal on my PGWP application.

So here is my case:

I will be graduating next month with a 4-year bachelor's degree. The program however for me was 5years as I had 2 courses (1 mandatory and 1 elective) left to finish. I was full-time all through except for my last year where I wasn't able to enroll in a mandatory course due to the fact that it got full before I could enroll. Because of this, I ended up taking just one course per semester as the school offers the mandatory course in both terms.

I feel there is a high probability of a refusal even if I attached an explanation with my application. Could y'all please make any suggestions for my case?

Thank you

It could go either way. By the rules, you are only allowed to be part time in your last semester and should be refused. But approval is always a possibility if an officer decides to bend the rules. You should try applying all the same - you may get lucky and be approved. Include a letter explaining the circumstances of why you had two semesters part time. Have a "plan B" in the event you are refused.

Thank you for the quick and clear response. If you don't mind, What would you suggest as a clean and clear-cut plan B for my situation?

What your plan B is would ultimately be up to you. I'm not sure I would say anything is clear-cut or clean. Options include:

- Complete another program of study in Canada to qualify for a PGWP, this time making sure you don't have more than 1 part time semester
- Find an employer willing to go through the LMIA process so that you can qualify for a closed work permit
- Leave Canada and return to your home country to work there

You did it again! I believe these suggestions are extremely valuable and informative. I truly appreciate your time and efforts.

For the first option tho, would it be okay to apply for a study permit extension while simultaneously applying for the PGWP? That is, if PGWP gets refused, would it impact the study permit decision?
