Hi everyone!!! Can anybody explain what "a positive selection decision if applying under the Canadian Experience Class" is? Because that's one of the exemptions for the four year limit for TFWs. I'd like to take note of that this early so that me and my hubby can do something and contemplate on that.. Thank you so much...

Hi

Can I get some more details like any link, where you found this ""a positive selection decision if applying under the Canadian Experience Class" is? " ????

Hi Gone thru link :

This is what I understood, from April 1, 2011 - TFWs cannot work for more than 4 years.
Within this 4 year period, if you applied for PR and received a confirmation like your application is approved by CIC positively, then the above rule doesn't implied.

Sai M

But what is this positive selection decision? I thought that after applying for CEC and being accepted I would be getting my PR.

Thank you

yes correct. Positive means, our application is approved.

then, why would I need to apply for a 5th year work permit if I would have my PR?

:o Thanks

Okay, this will be our case: assuming that my hubby applies for CEC by March 2014 after meeting the required 2 years of full time skilled work experience and IELTS, I believe the application processing for CEC here in Manila is 14 months. If we received the approval of our application for CEC on the maximum of 14th month, that would be around June 2015. The regulatory changes for TFW state that the maximum stay of TFW would be April 1, 2015. Does this mean that we need to leave Canada by April 1, 2015 although there is a pending CEC application which will be approved in no less than 2 months?

Or the “positive selection decision” means the initial confirmation from CIC which is usually received 3 months from application?

Please clarify. Thank you..

the “positive selection decision” means it is not the the initial confirmation from CIC which is usually received 3 months from application. The final decision that we land and VO approves our PR VISA.
Hi
As per new rule from April-01-2011, TFWPs will not be approved for more than 4 years for any person. Yes, we need to leave, as we will not be having valid paper to stay in Canada.

Ok, sorry guys! just jumping in the conversation. You are mentioning TFWP's. Does that include the post graduation WP people too. I mean people who have graduated from a degree and then get their work experience or short CEC grauate class. Does this max four year limit apply to those too?

Why, indeed? Once you have PR status, you don't need a work permit :)

I see no restrictions on the graduates

Then we can go back to Canada once my hubby's CEC application has been approved? any idea as to the actual average processing times? In the CIC website, it's gonna be 14months for Manila Visa Office.. Is it really that long?.... Thanks for your replies...

hi, "positive selection decision" means your application is subject for assessment. that your application has complete documents and accepted by the immigration. normally it is in the form of email or letter that states your file number, confirmation number, etc, and takes 3-5 months of submitting your application.
