Have been work for the last 2 months now. As a Recruiter for a major food company. Its temporary though.so I would be free i think in the next two weeks.

Hello Everyone,

Well my hubby has landed, he is now officially on Canadian Soil!!!! I thought i would share with all of you our experience.....

The whole process from start to finish took less than 6 months!!! From the time the passport was requested till the visa was issued, that took about 9 days. We were told last thursday the visa was ready for pick-up. I flew to Trinidad the next day to support and help my husband pack and get prepared to come to Canada, plus i wanted to be with him during his landing experience. I spent 5 days in beautiful Trinidad and Tobago!!

We flew back together this week Wednesday. The landing experience was a breeze. From the time we got off the plane and went through immigration took all of 15 minutes - no word of a lie!!! When we went to the immigration room, the officer asked him two questions and then said welcome to canada! We were shocked!!! We expected to be told to go and sit and wait until someone asked him more questions, but that wasn't the case. It was a definite pleasant experience.

It was the same experience for me (6mths) but the airport i waited about an hour because i had to declare the money i brought and there was a line up as well!

hearing all your good experiences is giving me hope. i am still waiting for an ecas update to say that our application has reached trinidad but i hope that everything goes through in the short time that alot of you are getting through. congrats to everyone

How is everyone else on the forum doing ? any news yet ? My ecas is still showing application rec'd Jan. 14th and no other notes..... :-\

so just a question out of curiosity, how long did it take for your ecas to update the Permanent Resident application status after you received your sponsorship approval?

i got approved may 17 and it is still saying not available under that section and it makes me wonder if it is really taking that long to get to trinidad or if they dont even update it at all.

Hi Alo,

I can only answer your question based on my own experience, every case is different. I got my approval to sponsor my husband in early December 2010, ECAS update said that the Application was received, I believe it was December 15, 2010, along with the medical results. The status did not change until May 10, 2011 when POS starting processing the file, and seven days later they requested my hubby send in his passport from Guyana.

My best advise is to be patient and pray alot, it is a very stressful process. What I did do that might of helped I sent in the final payment (when my hubby received his AOR from Trinidad) to avoid POS sending him a letter requesting the payment.

Hope this helps. Another thing POS issues the VISA before the medical or passport expires which ever comes first. In my case my husbands medical expires August 25, 2011 (1 yr from the original date), so he has to leave Guyana before August 25, 2011.

Just wanted to give a quick update that I logged into ecas today and it was updated this morning at around 4am stating that medicals have been rec'd. Hope this is showing that they are actually starting to work on the file !

Well...8 weeks "in process" and 11 weeks since the interview!! No contact from that office yet at all. Our lawyer sent a fax like 2 weeks ago and no response as of yet. This is getting harder by the hour.

well my ecas was finally updated and our application was received May 30.....so now we wait i guess

That's good to hear Alo.....this thurs 16th will be 3 mths since my application has been filed....trying to be patient. My application was received on the 29th of April in POS according to ECAS.....I havent received an AOR as yet.


Come on POS give us some good news!
