good morning all! I hope you are all doing well. I am still waiting and waiting and waiting.
I guess because my hubby is in the US and we sent the application without the FBI report (FBI got a new system and instead of 6 weeks it was taking them 3 months), perhaps our application is another pile that says waiting for documentation.

hubby is getting worried that we haven't even received AOR2 but I keep telling him not to worry (even though I am stressed) :-[ :p

Saying prayers every night.

He is coming up for a visit from New York for a week so we are looking forward to spending some time together. Please continue to pray for us and keep us in your thoughts.
At least you guys get to see eachother, that helps alot!
I hope you enjoy your time together

Well tomorrow will make a week since POS Office has received my Husband's passport.
Still checking everything ! Ecas, DHL, E-mails .. and nothing !

I'm getting IMPATIENT ! Lol and I'm trying not to let it get to me but it's hard.

Surely it'll happen when I least expect it.

Hi! I am a little confused about the timelines for Family Sponsorship from Port of Spain and would appreciate it if someone could help me out a little.

My husband sponsored his mom in August 2010 (prior to us being married), and according to the CIC website the processing time is approximately 10 years. 50 months in Canada and 73 months in Port of Spain. Is this accurate?

On May 28th, 2015 we received a notice that our sponsorship application had been approved in Canada and the file was being moved to Port of Spain for the next step in assessing the permanent residence applicant. My MIL was sent a letter in June asking her to do her medical. She did it immediately. On July 6th she was sent a letter requesting her passport. Does that mean that her application for permanent residence has been approved? Is it possible that the processing time in Port of Spain was only 1 month and not the 73 months that are listed on the website?

I would appreciate some guidance! Thank you.

Hello there,

I am sponsoring my Husband and based on my experience their processing times are accurate.

At the time that I sent in my application it said that the Assessment of the Sponsor was taking 55 days and I got approved on the 55th day.

As for the passport request, when they request it that means that the person being sponsored is approved and CIC will be issuing a visa.

In my case for my Husband, they requested a passport (on July 6) and two immigration photos and he sent it in July 13th.
They received his passport on July 14th and now we are waiting.
It seems to be taking 2-4 weeks for a visa to be issued but our time frames could possibly be different as your Husband is sponsoring his parent.

I Hope this helps a little bit.

Well what I am reading on the forums here is that the max they are allowed to hold the passport is 12 weeks. However, it seems on average 4-5 weeks.

Yeah but you're lucky. I am still waiting on any kind of communication from POS.
I am really excited for you though! It will fly but so quick... Next you'll be telling us your landing story! :p ;D

I still can't believe how fast some of the files are processed. It is just crazy. I think I am just one of those cases that has to wait. ::)

Passport request means that her application for PR has been approved, yes. It is possible that it took only 1 month and 73 days from the POS office yes. For one, processing times listed for the foreign offices is a maximum allotted time that they could take to process a file. For the most part it doesn't take that long.

The only offices that are accurate with the time listed and actual processing times are Canada and the US.

So yes and yes. Congrats to your MIL!

You'll hear from them. Just a matter of time, hun. You may have to wait a bit longer and I feel it's because he's in the US (not as much urgency as if he was far away)... Who knows. I just hope you get through soon, girl.

I am actually really impressed with how quickly the process in Trinidad has been for the people on here. Pretty good odds
