Hi Everyone,

I am a total newbie here. I am sponsoring my husband from St. Vincent. We submitted the application in January. It was rec'd in Mississauga late Jan 2013 and I was approved as a sponsor on Feb 2013. Now, of course we're waiting. I think of new questions/worse case scenarios/best case scenarios on an almost hourly basis. I stumbled across this forum when looking for some answers for income tax/sponsorship questions but after reading all of the posts from about Nov/Dec of 2012, I feel like this might be cathartic and helpful to discuss/celebrate/stress out about things with you all. I saw where you all noticed the processing time increase from 15 months to 18 months... well let me tell you, I also shed a few tears of my own. It is extremely difficult because as so many of you have stated... nobody understands. We got married in Dec 2012 (In St. Vincent -- plus my parents and sister were there as well which was wonderful) and we started working on the papers almost immediately. We didn't use a rep/lawyer but we did have some basic help (a second set of eyes) from a friend who does immigration counselling. I know that I can't put all of my faith in this select group's timelines but based on last year's spreadsheet, the majority are solved right around a year. That is long but much better than 18+ months. You're welcome to add me to the spreadsheet (in fact, I'd be honored to be your first entry of 2013 -- unless there is someone else that just hasn't been added yet) and I really look forward to getting some support over here for the upcoming long waiting times.

Talk soon everyone!

Wow, it's been awhile since I have been in this forum! I hope all is well with everyone and no one has gone completely crazy from this long waiting.

Well still not update for our file, ARGGH! Our permanent residence section is still in "application recieved" mode and I have no idea when POS is going to get to our file! My husband has sent an e-mail to POS asking for general informaiton about the expiration of a medical, but still no response. I will definately keep checking in to see if anyone has had any amazing news.

Well good luck to all of you during this long wait, believe me I know how hard it is but we have to be patient our turn is coming soon.....

Welcome!! I'd be happy to make you our first 2013 applicant on the spreadsheet! :) Please stay and chat with us - we too are stuck in this journey and know nothing/think about all of this on a daily basis - so it's great to have the support of friends!!
Please also let us know IF/when you receive a letter/email from POS saying they have received your file (AOR as well call it).

@millslu - You went and told Can-Vincy about the gift basket and I just ran out wi.. LOL. :)

@Iamslowlygoingcrazy - Good to see you back! No news here either, but stay and talk if you have the time!

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend (well, as much as you can enjoy a non-POS-workday when you're going through this process lol)

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome. It does mean a lot to finally find a few people who know EXACTLY (or as close to exactly) what we are going through and feeling.

I know I'm far away from getting some news but I sure hope this week gets some news for the rest of you all.

Talk to you soon.

Welcome! Glad you found us early on in the process! It really makes a huge difference having people who understand exactly what you're going through there to share the journey. Feel free to vent, ask questions, anything you need, we'll help anyway we can!

All the best to all!!!

Hi all.

Had a sad morning. Was having the most wondeful dream. Hubby and I were on the way to antigua and the plane got messed up and had to land in fredericton, canada (lol geography doesn't matter in dreams apparently). When we landed, immigration let him in even though he would need a visa and said that his PR had been approved. We were soooo happy and laughing at being stuck in lil old fredericton for his first visit to canada. We rented a crappy motel room from this country lady and it was so cute. We made plans to rent a car to drive to my home in ns so he could meet my mom. And I was going to show him all kinds of things on the drive. We were like little kids, we were so excited.

Then I woke up. Looked around. Bawled my eyes out. And went to work :(

@ missdominica :( that is a really sad feeling... have had more than a few of those myself (well, not specifically that dream - lol). Hopefully it means that news is coming soon for you and it was a premonition of sorts.

Welcome Can-Vinc!!! Any questions you have feel free. Some of us have been waiting very long and this has made us indispensable experts! lol...dont look at the timelines too much...EACH CASE IS BASED ON IT'S INDIVIDUAL MERITS! Mines might take 14 months, Miss D might be 7 months...others might be 6....the 18 month period is just an approximation based on cases closed the prior year. So....doh hut yuh head...

Yes you could well be one of the 7 "monthers". Did you order your caips to see if an interview is req?
