Also note that CAIPS says "in progress" for application status however e-cas still says "application received"...

That is disheartening that they havent touched your file since June 2012. We are almost in February what is the hold up?I am also worried bcuz I didnt have any proof to show that we did meet when we said we did. Well we didint meet online or anything-we grew up together from childhood. How do you prove that?We do have pics where u can clearly see we were really really young but nothing to say that for eg this picture is from 1980's or whatever. Wow confused now. I guess we might be getting an interview too!

To me this means that our file was assigned and it was due for completion by that date...but something happened...or nothing happened...

I'm seeing an update from 2013/01/03 for my wife...I think this would be for her medical..

Everything is case by case basis. The details of my case doesn't mean you will have an interview. So don't you worry padnah!

Hi Dadzin,

Glad you got your notes. It is upsetting to hear that they haven't touched your file since June, but just because they didn't touch it doesn't mean stuff wasn't being done. Maybe they are waiting for background checks or something and just waiting until they get back to update your file. Does it say when you will be asked for an interview? As for the proof, if you deleted it, there's not much you can do. You can tell them in person how you met. I would also get notarized letters from your family, friends, co-workers, whatever, saying that they noticed you two started to date in 2008 (month) and met you as a couple in X year, etc. That way even though they wont see the start of the relationship, there will be plenty of witnesses saying they have known you since the beginning. Getting a notary to sign makes it more stable proof, instead of just heresay, too.

Do your notes list a BFD (Bring-forward date) indicating when they are supposed to be working on your app again?

Under Assessment I'm seeing "DUE DATE: 2012/06/22" ....

I was reading a doc on how to read caips and it said this..."Due Date: < 1 year from when the application was filed> ⇐deadline"

Can you tell me what that means?

I believe due date is the same as bring forward date. Meaning the next time they are due to open your file. Many times it will be before that though.

So does this mean that the next date the file will open would be 2/22/2013 which is 1 yr after it was filed...

lol...you feel I have time to bother with them! let them do their jobs...we will do ours and live as much as we can without our spouses by our sides. I met my wife in person 2 years after being facebook friends that was in 2010...we got married 2011, had our daughter in 2012 and our next child soon come .... yes boy ah moving rel fast.... But we are genuine and I will not live my life to appease any immigration officer.... as to what may or may not look good on our file. Jump or low they will approve....we will go all the way to the supreme court... the fight never ends...anyways...doh hut yuh head....some countries are 20 months for processing....

Nah, I don't think there's a one year deadline (at least not at all visa offices). Ususally the due date or bring forward date is a date they are supposed to be working on your application by... although, even that is not followed up on all the time (often BFD will pass or they will open it before). Like with everything at POS (and CIC in general), there is no cut and dry answer... it just comes when they get to it.

Hello, i'm new. Still trying to figure out how to post and where. I am seeing lots of posts about spouse sponsorship and you have great communication here and support. I am hoping that there can be posts and support for sponsorship of other family members also. Our sponsor applied in March 2012, was approved in June in Canada and the application was sent on to POS office in June 2012 but i haven't heard anything since then. Like many others, my family and I are praying and hoping for a quick response.

Could anyone say if the wait takes the full 22 months as it is shown on the official processing times or if it's possible that it can be completed before that time?

Hi Karen,

Welcome to the group! You are welcome to post here and ask questions anytime you like. We're all in the same situation. Also, we have a spreadsheet (see the bottom of my post, in my signature, and click the POS one) where we document the timelines of people in this process. I will enter your information.

Did you get a letter from POS saying they received your application?

POS's listed wait time is 15 months, not 22 months. Most applications are processed before the full 15 months, but sadly, some go over. After 15 months, your MP for your area can call and question them why your application is past the listed processing time. If you check out the spreadsheet, you will see some people go through in very short times while others had to wait very long.. We are all just hoping to be on the short end of processing times.

Haha @ yuh moving rel fast. You know what--why not? Life is short!
I agree with you about going to the ends of the earth to get your wife approved. I will be doing the same for my hubby.

Yes some countries take 20 months but even them are buckling up lately. For instance, Accra was one of the most difficult embassies to deal with and ppl are now getting PPR's in 2-3 months! POS needs to buckle up tooo
