Thanks for the info! That's what I've been hearing. Feel like sharing how the interview was? Strict, relaxed, long, short?

Hey everyone...been awhile. Hope all is well!!
Welcome MissDominica :)

My husband is from St Vincent and had to fly to Trinidad for an interview. At the embassy just on a chair with the VO behind a window lol!

So much movement and people paitiently waiting...thats great to see. Well were still not finished yet. The kids are going 2 redo their meds next week. They (POS) say they want our file completed before my husband medical expires in August. Now a sense of urgency?? Lmao

Thank you! That makes more sense. If they are filed separately, how do they know when you file a Visitor visa that you have filed or plan to file a PR application as well? Based on POS's timeline, a visitor visa can be processed in less than 2 weeks and my application for PR won't even be in yet or would just be beginning the sponsor approval process in Canada... Should I tell them when we apply for the visitor visa that we are or plan on doing a PR application as well? (Also, what's the difference between TRP and Visitor visa... and which applies to me in this case? I've been using them interchangably lol)

Sorry for all the questions - I'm officially the annoying newbie.. I know.. but y'all remember what it was like when you started, right?

Thanks a BILLION.

@ Bajeinwaiting Nope!!!!!! I wish they would. The last time I spoke to the rep she mentioned to me that everything was fine. She said the refund of RPRF will take about 10 days and that it takes a couple days for them to process the RPRF fees that were paid in Canada. That was 3 and 1/2 weeks ago. I know they got my email b/c I recv'd confirmation. If by next week God's willing still nothing, I will call the office to speak to the rep once again.

@ Can4Vincy Get those meds done quickly and 2 weeks after it's sent in, send them a CSE. That way they can mail off those COPR papers to your hubby.

@ MissDominica They will be processed separately. You will send the TRP app to POS and the PR app to Mississauga. If you are approved to sponsor him, the file will then be forwarded to POS.

I believe one of the questions for the form for visitor visa asks if you have applied for any type of visa for Canada before (study permit, PRV). If you apply for the visitor visa after you sent your PR application off, your fiance would have to declare that he has applied for PRV even if you are in the early stages of the sponsorship process.

Maybe MissDominica should apply for TRP first and then start the spousal sponsorship process after. I believe it takes about 3-4 weeks to process the TRP in POS.

Thanks Admiral,

That's what I was thinking. I'm afraid he'll get denied a visitor visa because he's young and they won't believe he will come back (not working, a student, etc). In the event that he DOES get denied a visitor visa for this reason, does a past denial have any negative effect on a future PR application? I don't want to hurt his chances at all, but if there's no harm, then why not?

Appreciate it :)

No it doesn't.
He will be considered a high risk of overstay if you file the PR app and then apply for the visitor visa because of his strong ties to Canada. If he is denied, send in the PR app. If he is approved, #winning all around. ;D

Good morning everyone,

In a grumpy mood.. called yesterday to get our medicals done and it turns out that the only doctor designated to do it in Dominica is on vacation until June 30 or later...

:(

If they only have one doc that can do it, they should have to have a replacement when leaving the island for long periods of time. Sigh. Add another 2 months to the waiting list.

Hope y'all have better days.

Hello Forum,

I haven't been in here for months. Decided that I should give it a quick check this morning. I see there are a lot of new people which is always nice to hear your stories. Keep it up lively!

I am here ... 9 months in Canada already and it's the same old from when I left way back when. Finishing off my degree and getting life slowly sorted out.

Hope to read you all made it safely to Canada in the very near future.

Good luck everyone!
