Thanks for the good luck wishes. Hubby is still in Jamaica. He returns to CA tmw. He will be coming to Grenada. I hope that letter contains medical redo forms because Hubby is against me doing it without their request. If he signed up to this forum, he would surely understand why im all for it.

Im basically hoping for a smooth interview as this is both our first marriage..no kids...bla bla bla.

Its ok to be nervous, I know you will be ready, but to help go over the concerns you may think they will have and an explanation for it, eg why parents were not at wedding. You should be open with them, but at the same time don't over explain anything or give details that can cause probelms later on in the interview.

Admirable,

I was soooo happy to read that you got an update. I called my fiance at work to tell him :) I know we don't like interviews, but at the same time i'm POSITIVE you will do great and that you are one step closer to being with hubby.

Best of luck!!!

Hi everyone,

My husband has started the divorce application.
Will this affect my future chances of going to Canada for example on a study visa or if i were to apply as a skilled worker?

A prior attempt at obtaining residence in Canada, whether temporary or permanent, will be taken into account when applying for a different status. The important thing to do is, if you are making another attempt where a previous one did not come to fruition (for whatever reason), answer all questions honestly, and address the issue upfront in the new application, do not wait on them to ask you about it.

So, if you decide to apply later on for student visa or FSW, make sure you acknowledge that you previously had a spousal PR application but due to marital breakdown this was withdrawn.

By the way, I suggest you advise POS immediately about the change of status, i.e. the filing of divorce proceedings. Do not wait on your husband to tell them, advise them yourself. This will fulfill your obligation and prevent any future issues regarding misrepresentation.

Hey Everyone,

So i finally got the letter on Fri....a day after my email. It asks for proof of funds, qualifications, birth certificate, education records etc...the whole nine yards. There is no medical redo forms or anything.

I will be getting a new passport as the one I have expires in July. It should be valid for at least 6 mths. This is just me being on the safe side & contingent.

E-Cas does not reflect this information of the interview. All in all, I'm taking it one step at a time. I will be prepared.....thanks to this forum. I know how to handle this and what to expect.

Hubby is coming so I will have my support system right here with me. Couldn't ask for a better husband. Love him.

Hi Ks232 & Trini, we do hate interviews but there is progress on my file....Thank God!!!! I mentioned that my deadline was march....and yuup..I was right. What's crazy is that sometime last october, I specifically dreamnt that it was march. I obviously didn't share this on the forum at the time but ppl, Dreams Do Really Come Through. The power of prayer is phenomenal and God really answers prayers when we least expect him to. I obviously didn't pray for an interview but I prayed to be over this by March 2012. I prayed for things to work out in my favor. After the long wait, I plan on walking into that interview confident. I'm really happy this morning. Woop! Woop! March is almost here and so is my interview. The only person I told this dream to was my mom and her response was, "that's all that's on your mind, that's why you dream about that." She laughed at me then and I'm laughing at her now because I dreamnt that and voila....it's actually happening. & folks, that's my reason for setting my deadline in march. This is unbelievable.....Wowwwwww!

Avatar, I am sorry that you are going through this. As Charlie D has mentioned this will be taking into account for future attempts to immigrate to Canada. My prayers are with you.

Well folks I will keep you posted. Because hubby was in Jamaica I am on him to make sure he brings his proofs from his end...primarily ticket stubs, pics, cards I sent him and whatever he has...

Have a blessed Sunday everyone.....

Hey every one I'm wondering if the process is still as long as before, my situation is different
I am only 22 and got deported April of last year I honestly didn't know I needed an ARC to re enter Canada
So I changed my name and tried to re enter in December of 2011 and while being questioned in the airport
I told them of the name change which was stupid of me and I was sent to the detention center and sent back
Immediatly, I'm not married neither do I have kids, but my mother, brothers and sister are in Canada, I do have a boyfriend in Canada who is willing to marry and sponsor me, but April of this year will make a year of being apart and he's scared this process will take an additional years and he is worried he won't be able to visit as often but I don't mind waiting because, I really want to be united with him and my family. What advice can you offer me? Help please!!!

P.S my mom isn't legal either she is struggling to stay there and has 2 cdn born kids her spouse cant sponsor her because he sponsored his ex wife and her 7 kids and they all went on welfare so you know it's highly impossible for him to help.

Welcome Borderline,

Your best bet is to get married & start the immigration process to immigrate to CA permanently. POS is a slow office but some folks have had short waiting times & others (myself included) have had longer. For a visual feedback of our experience going through POS, the members of this forum have compiled a spreadsheet portraying our processing times through the POS office. The link is located at the end my post (signature box) so check it out.

Are you from a visa exempt country? The mere fact that you got deported will be considered when the papers are in. You will need an ARC. I'm not sure how long that takes but we do have a couple of ARC folks on here. ConfusednScared was one. Trini777 is also an ARC applicant.

Furthermore, I'm happy you did not lie to immigration in regards to your name change etc. It may have got you deported but you did not hurt yourself for future plans to immigrate to CA. Kudos to you :)

Well hello all..just another small update. We received an email asking for the RPRF to be paid and new medicals for the children (they expired the end of last year)

I suppose its progress and was great to see from them that we are nearing finalization.
