hey miss Dominica
i re-sent the application on december 27th and we got the reply letter on jan16th saying that the application was sent to pos, and yes my wife is trini and lives there currently, she got a visitors visa to come for christmas so she was here when they sent the application back to us. we were soo crushed, but quickly got everything they needed and fedex it back to them.

just have a question, my wife went back to trinidad last week, we want to apply for a visitors visa for around easter time..if my wife gets another 6 months visa does she need to stay in trinidad or can she stay in canada until she her sponsorship gets approved? does she need to go back to Trinidad for the interview??. ...i saw the spreadsheet amd have been looking at it since march of last year when i stumbled upon this forum u guys have a great thing going here thanks for all your quick responses and positive energy..

another question....whats the best way to call Trinidad from your cell?? i work night shift and my wife works day shift.. been using phone cards from Ontariophonecards.com was thinking of getting her magic jack ?? any other suggestions?

wanna wish everyone good luck and a good weekend
thanks alot guys

Your wife can stay in Canada with you for the entire period as long as she has a valid visa. She can also renew her visa while in Canada if needed, just ensure she applies two to three months ahead of time. If your wife is called for an interview, she will have to travel back to Trinidad because she is an outland applicant.

If you have an Iphone or another smart phone that allows you to download Skype and you also have internet access then you can make free calls to her at any time providing she has a Skype A/C also. Majic Jack is also great, very cheap to use.

@trini100 let me see if i can help here if you wife does get her visa for another 6 months or whatever amount , after the 6months i think she can apply for an extension from immigration to remain with you for another 6 monts, as far as when they going to give the PR she have to return home being that she applied outbound, the good thing is she only have to return home either for an interview or to recieve her package, and then take another plain back to you.

Second if you have a computer the cheapest way to stay in contact is get the magic jack, i use it all the time and its like am right here with my wife she can call me anytime anywhere. If you have a smartphone magic jack has an app that works amazing right now with a good wifi signal or 3 or 4g network i would recommend u get one of that, it would be far more cheaper and less stressfull than a calling card.

Actually, if she doesn't have to go back home after receiving ppr, she only needs to "land" in Canada, which can be done by flagpoling at the border.

Not as well as I'd like to be... but you remember how it is lol.

I check my e-cas obsessively, check my email several times a day, etc. Since a few October applicants (and some whose app got to POS only a week before mine) had heard stuff already, I was thinking I'd hear in January but didn't hear anything and no in process. I was bummed, but now I'm hoping maybe it just means I'm in background checks and they won't contact me til the end...

Who knows.

I'm sure hubby is all adjusted to the new place and doin just great! Am I right?

Guys I just checked CIC website as Processing times have been updated and I am ready to cry. Just so disappointed

POS increased to 18 months! Werent they 13 or 15 before?

I know I know this in no way shape or form means anything really as every case is different but it is just disheartening.

Oh my goodness. That is absolutely devastating news. Just when I've finally wrapped my head around it being 15 months, it increases to 18. And yes, it was 15 months before. I don't even know what to say. Please god... For all our sakes don't let it be 18 months.

OMG i felt my heart break...in tears

Not good news... but it sometimes fluctuates. I think I've seen it at 17, 15, and 13 at different points throughout this process. Let's hope for our little group that it's nowhere near any of those long timelines.

Does anyone here have the APPLICANT'S mailing address as a PO BOX?

My sponsor address is also my applicant address, because I am hubby's representative (ie. all documents supposed to come to my email and mailing address). On my ecas for me (sponsor) my address is correct like this:

PO Box 999
City, NS
postal code

But on hubby's ecas, his mailing address (also mine) is like this

999
City, NS
postal code

They did not write the PO BOX part.. just the number. I'm afraid if they try to mail me something they will see the number and think it's a street address or something and not send it to the PO box...

I have no idea how ONE would be right and the other wrong, since they were all the same address. I was asking if anyone else had this situation or if I should tell them about it.

Hey...when did his address get changed to yours? Or has it always been like that.

I would ask them about it just to clarify

It's always been like that cuz I applied as his representative (so it's really "his" mailing address because he is getting his mail through me). I wish it had changed to mine.. that's usually a good sign! lol. In our case, we'll never be able to tell cuz it has always been mine lol

Yeah, I'll have to tell them. I was just wondering if maybe POS wrote it a certain way and everyone's PO BOX address was like that and it was just a certain way they did things (cuz mississauga put mine in properly).. who knows
