Can I get a general opinion on what most people think I should do:

I am applying for PR, with my Canadian wife (6yrs next Sept), I am Irish - I have my printer full of ink & a ream of paper at the ready!

I will need to apply for rehabilitation (2 convictions 10yrs ago)
I am going to send in the PR/Spousal/Rehab/Visa extension forms all in together.

Here is the what I want opinion on:
Will I:
a) apply Inland, which will take longer, but I am available for interview
or
b) apply Outland, & run the risk of being called for interview, with the risk of being sent to UK for interview ($2,000approx), and getting sent home as i might be told i am criminally in admissable? Is it probable i will be called for interview because of the criminal past, or not as we are married so long?

thanks for help....

If I were to do it all over again, I would have sprung 4 K to fly my husband to Australia for an interview and have an answer in a decent time frame ..

inland we're looking at 18 months ...

I'd pay 4 K (or 2 K in your case) to apply outland ... Just sayin!

i don't know how prior convictions are processed ... Maybe someone on here has been through a similar thing and knows outcomes ?

Hey there, not 100% sure but I think you have to file for rehabilitation prior to applying for sponsorship or permanent residency... you may want to check it before you get started. We did outland and yes it was hard but this way my partner could keep working and I got home organised for us here in Canada, it has been in process since Nov 26th and London generally goes pretty quick and outland gives you the opportunity to appeal their judgement if they decline your application where inland doesn't. Tough to weigh out, really!! If you are financially sound and you can afford to have one income for the first 9 months of inland (minimum) I would go inland so that you can be together! :)

thanks for the opinions.......
I don't have any options at home - and i fear the thought of not being with wife and children.
(quit my job & Ireland in deep recession with 15% unemployment

Totally understand, it is hard but outland is the best way in the end if you can't afford it and you can actually apply outland then fly to Canada to 'visit' (make sure you have a two way ticket) ... just sayin :D

I am in Canada now

bugger. Well if you are doing outland you can apply for a work permit but I am not sure about the timelines on how quick you get it. Sorry, wish I could help you more!
