I am pursuing my double masters in USA but I have applied for Canada immigration. I have a question that after getting invite what type of police certificate or clearance I need, apart from India?

Anywhere you've lived for more than six months. So that would include the US.

Thanku so much.. but can u bit elaborate the types of police verification?
I mean State police or FBI or both ?

I have been to UK twice in last 6 years. Once for 8 weeks and another time for 5 weeks. Do I need to obtain police verification report from UK?
Also, currently i'm residing in Canada for last one year, do i need to get a police verification for Canada?
Finally, am an Indian citizen, so if I need police verification for India then can I do it from Indian consulate in Canada or I need to get it from my hometown in India?
Please assist. Many thanks in advance !!

Ankur, my apologies for my previous post, the information I had posted was incorrect, please read below and click on the link for more info. Hope this helps

For your Indian POlice verification you can do it through the Indian consulate. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/india.asp

As for the Canadian police verification, The Canadian visa office will tell you if you need a Canadian criminal record check while your application is being processed. - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/canada.asp

You need police verifications for all the countries you have resided in, including Canada. You do no require police verifications for the countries where you were on holiday. As for the PCC from India, you cannot do it through the counsulate, you will need to get it done from India.
Many thanks !!
I thought if I stayed in any country for more than 6 months then only I need PCC. Please clarify. For Canada PCC, do I need to goto a police station in Canada to get this done? And for India, can I get it done through my relatives there?

No Problem at all !! Many thanks for all your valuable feedback. This helps a lot. Any idea what about for the period that I stayed in UK?

No, not for the UK. You need PCC's only if you've stayed continuously for 6 months or more.
