Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me out. I am a South African citizen who lived and worked in many countries in the last ten years. My partner is a Canadian Citizen and we are deciding now whether to take the inside or outside of Canada application route. (Thanks for the excellent post from Leon on this!)

Anyway, in the application package from INSIDE of Canada it states that police clearances are required from all the countries where you've lived since turning 18 or the last ten years. In the OUTSIDE application it only states all the places you have lived longer than six months since turning 18.

Can anyone tell me which it is? I am hoping for only the last ten years since that would save us some time obtaining these police clearances.

Thanks in advance.

" since turning 18 or the last ten years"

Usually it says which ever is longer period.
For an example: if you are 32 years old then since turning 18 and if you are 25 then last 10 years.

:D Hi,
You need to get PCC only from those countries where you lived more than 6 months from your 18th birthday or for the past 10 years - which ever is longer. Suppose you stayed in any country only for less than 6 months ( 180 days ) you don't need to get a PCC from there.
