Hello Everyone,
I was going through couple threads and now have a new doubt.
From what i read on the CIC website, one doesnt need to attach a RCMP/police clearance from canadaunless asked for during the application processing .But many folks here have mentioned of attaching one apart from PCC from home country
Please clear my confusion.

Thanks,

What country you are from originally ?

I am from India .
Have been in Canada since Aug 2011

the rule is, a PCC for every country you have lived in for at least 6 months, since age 18, except Canada. This is clearly indicated in the instruction guide.

If you have never lived anywhere besides India and Canada, you only need the PCC for India.

Best is send both PCC ( India and Canada-RCMP) but for you Indian PCC is mandatory.
Canada-RCMP is optional means CIC can ask you later to submit if they want.

I only sent my Indian PCC and will submit the RCMP later.

I went online and ordered 2 (one for me, one for my husband) and sent them along with the Police certificates from my home country. Then When I received RPRF lots of applicants received RCMP requests which took them extra time to obtain. I did not get a new RCMP request because, in my humble opinion, I submitted it at the very beginning. That is my logic, it is easier to do it in the beginning rather than spending extra time at the end.

But it is totally up to you. Good luck with your application!

Hi

Submitted RCMP when requested by CIC, also supplied PCC's for each country lived in or had resided in for more than 6 months. PCC's were sent after the RCMP certificate.

Thx

It is mentioned under CEC guide lines under Police Certificate section.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/information/applications/guides/5609ETOC.asp

Police certificates

You and your family members who are 18 years of age and older and are not permanent residents or Canadian citizens must provide:

valid police certificate, or
police clearance, or
record of no information.
These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six (6) consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

I see. thank you.

Do know what is the processing time frame for Indian PCC from Canada (Brampton)??

In the BLS website they mentioed it would be 4 to 6 weeks. But will that take same time or less or even more?

It is in fact 4 - 6 weeks and maybe longer. I suggest sending your documents in and then apply for your PCC from India. Once that comes in send it after you get your file number. Not everyone gets a RCMP request, so wait for CIC to ask for it.

Ya. sure thanks. I am waiting for IELTS result to submit documents.

If you ordered them online, it was not a fingerprint-based check, and totally unnecessary because CIC automatically conducts a name-based check for everyone. The only people who get a request for an RCMP clearance are those whose name-based checks are not clear (meaning, someone with the same name as you has a criminal record). In those cases only, CIC requests a fingerprint-based RCMP
clearance.

You did not get a request because the name-based check was clear, not because you submitted it yourself...
