Hi All!

I'm applying for PR in Canada with my spouse (canadian citizen) sponsoring myself (USA citizen).

When I was in highschool I lived in India on a student visa for a year and a half. I arrived in India on my student Visa in January of 2008 left India in May of 2009. My Visa was good until December of 2009, however I returned to India on a tourist visa in October of 2009 and left again in March of 2010. I turned 18 in India on January 3rd, 2009, so was in India for not quite 6 months after turning 18.

I am concerned about needing police clearance for my time in India. My understanding is that CIC requires police certificates for anyone residing out of the country for more than 6 months since turning 18. I realize I am cutting it close, but technically I should still be okay if I send in my application without a police certificate, yes? I still have my Foreigners Registration Form that I had to file with the Superintendant of Police when I lived in India as a student. It has stamps on the back from the Registration officer and Superintendant of Police that state "no objection to leave india endorsement" that say there is no objection to me leaving the country on the dates specified.

It's a b1tch to try and get any sort of official anything from India. I can never get a hold of anyone on the phone or via email, and no one at the indian consulate in San Fran lists a mailing address to which I could send a CIC police clearance request form.

I was thinking ofsending this registration forrm with my application, hoping that these stamps would help in the event the person processing my application wants clearance. Do you think this would do the trick. I'm also a little worried about sending this original document... will they send it back to me? Do i need to request that? Could I send a notorized copy?

Thanks so much!
