We just got a brown envelope from the US Department of Justice in the mail. I'm certain it's our police certificate. Do we open the brown envelope it came in? Or does the entire package we receive need to stay sealed and sent in with our application?

Thannnnk youuuu.

Re: police clearance... to open or not?

You can open it. I mailed mine as well as scanned it and sent it by email, just to make sure they got it.

Did the scanned image have `VOID' all over it, because of the watermark?

Re: police clearance... to open or not?

Yes the scanned image says VOID all over it. Yes open it, you need to read it to make sure that everything is correct and that there is nothing that you need to dispute.

Re: police clearance... to open or not?

Thanks! Package opened. All is clear!

Why are you scanning the paperwork? Shouldn't the original be sent in???

Re: police clearance... to open or not?

Yes they will only accept the original but I scan everything for a copy for my own reference and documentation.

YEP! All documents you send in, make copies for sure. Triple check this! FBI report for sure must be that original though.

Myself, I got a 1 1/2 inch binder with a package of clear sleeve-thingies to put all my papers. It is completely filled up...(I had a lot of receipts, cards, etc.... stuff 'proving relationship' plus all the forms...it all adds up!)

Re: police clearance... to open or not?

Now comes the real question:

How will CIC react when they see that the FBI is no longer issuing IHSR on blue security paper (as of early January this year) and are instead using standard white paper.

This only fuels the mystery as to why CIC allowed reports from approved FBI Channelers (that still do provide reports on blue security paper) between mid_January thru March 9th, but then suddenly the plug? Is it even possible that they aren't aware of the recent FBI change? If they are...why would they accept this on standard white paper?

*shrug*

Re: police clearance... to open or not?

I was advised on here to both scan and send it. Mine did not have void all over it. Not even one void.

It would only have `VOID' on the photocopy if the new white paper that the FBI is using has the same security feature as the blue paper had.
