Police certificate and delay

Hi,

I’ve two questions :

1) IRCC requested my friend to bring a police certificate for a specific country. They gave him 60 days. Problem : the embassy/consulate of that country told him we need 3 to 6 months to get your PCC (Covid blabla).

Question : Is it possible to ask for an extension (of course by bringing proofs) or the agent has no power/appreciation on this matter ?

2) I was born in Spain (for example) but for the last 10 years I’ve never been there. Do I have to provide a PCC ? Because some people are always saying “you need to bring the PCC of your country of origin”…But I’m pretty sure, the PCC has nothing to do with your country of origin, but the countries that you’ve visited (6months or more)during the last 10 years or since your 18yo.
Am I right ???

1. Respond with note that will take months because of covid blah blah blah. If you can attach/show that PCC has been applied for, that is better.

2. Is this the same question or different? Is this a new application? Short form: follow the instructions carefully; IRCC can/will sometimes ask later for ones they decide they need; if wish to avoid delays and doubt, order the PCC anyway and let IRCC know it's been ordered (assuming not required per instructions) blah blah blah.

Thank you for your response. I liked the blah blah lol I just wanted to emphasise that usually they use the Covid excuse for everything.

1) That’s good to know. I will tell him. So the agent has the power to extend the time if he thinks it’s necessary to do so. Good to know.

I repeat, I do not know for certain - check the instructions, may depend on country.

All I can say is I have seen people get asked for them from country of birth later in process. Since it may be a pain, or more importantly, potentially time consuming, easier and less stressful to start the process in advance of being asked for it. It may end up never being asked for, and then you can curse me instead of IRCC )).

I'm only pointing out that sometimes they seem to also ask for country of birth. I don't see any particular key rhyme or reason as to which cases this applies to. For some it can be worth it to prepare to get it just in case - personal decision.
