Hi,

Some of my friends told that if you have lived in a country for more than 10 years, you only need to provide police certificate from that country. Is this true? If so, can you please provide official reference.

Official site says all PC required from all countries where you have lived after 18 years of age.

I came to US when I was 22 and have been living for 10 years now. Do I need to get PC from India?

Please let me know.

Thank you.

Your friends are incorrect unfortunately.
If you lived in India between the day you turned 18 and the day you left for the US, yes you do need PCC from India. No doubt about that.

Thanks for your reply.
Please look at this link
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...-permanent-residence/police-certificates.html

It states
Our online system will ask for a police certificate for:

  • you and your family members who are 18 years or older
  • and
  • every country you (or a family member) stayed in during the last 10 years for 6 months or more in a row
What do you make of that?
If you are an Indian by nationality, you will be asked for a PCC. So, better get one.
