Can anyone say if they actually call the banks to verify the funds and how long after the documents are submitted before they do there checks if they do call.

The VO may verify the authenticity of the information in your POF document during application processing, the checks are done at varying times for different candidates depending on the workload of the assigned review unit and review officer. Every application is unique and treated on case to case basis. Ensure you keep your POF in place through out the application process.
