Thanks for everyone's replies.
My husband and I have quite high earnings per month (although certainly not $14,000 every month, but over half of that) and so we can demonstrate that we're already earning quite a lot (in the UK). The "gift" from his parents before we submit the official application will be legitimate and will stay in or savings account until we move to Canada if accepted, so it is not a loan and we will be able to prove it's still there 2 years down the line (when it looks likely we can actually move if accepted).
I've heard that some decisions are at the discretion of your officer, and feel that these two points teamed together - as long as we prove the gift is actually ours to keep - shouldn't really cause us a problem?
When you enter the EE pool, you won't know when you get invited, if at all, so it doesn't seem to make sense to me to have to definitely have the funds there ready when applying for the EE pool.

The problem here I think is that this is an entirely new system (which people here seem to forget!) and no one actually knows what the acceptance rate is or have heard any stories relating to acceptance etc from this year.

You've asked very good question BellaOrgan , but I think there is no any definite answer to this! Everybody say something! and the answers are varied because of the situations!
Alright everybody, it is so better to have a fixed deposit on your account for a while to be in the safe side , BUT what can she do right now?
In my opinion, You have no choice but to provide the money ASAP and make a short history for your account because you've got the ITA and do not have time ! This is what you can do at present . Forget everything else that you haven't done at the time of submitting your application Bla Bla Bla... and just go on!

Hi Expert,

Can I show my check-in account statement as POF, as I have all $s in that account?

Money in YOUR accounts, including chequing, are great
Cannot be in an account of your parents. If a shared account, it can only be shared in the name of the person(s) included in your application.

If wife is included in application then can i show ONLY wife's account statement instead of mine??

no. it can be on your name if you are the principal or a joint account with your wife if she is coming with you.

what's important is it should not be associated with anyone that is not included in your application

If my last 6 months statement says
Dec $1500
Jan $ 1500
Feb $ 3800
Mar $ 2100
April $ 10000
May $ 15000

Will this statement be fine as POF?

Well this is not a healthy POF.

It would have been fine if the progression was linear/arithmetic.

This will look suspicious to anyone
