My work permit expires on December 22, 2016.. I applied for Extension of work permit Sept. 01, 2016 (closed WP/same employer).. because I want to make sure am on safer side if I didn't get PPR at the end of this year. IT WAS REFUSED TODAY.

letter explained "You have failed to meet the eligibility for a bridging work permit" "PNP certificates indicates employment restrictions"

first, I did not apply for bridging work permit.. I applied an extension for the same employer because am aware of that restriction written in my current WP.

I was wonder maybe because I already maxed out my 4 years inside Canada? who else here has same situation?

Don't jump into conclusions he needed to pay employer compliance fee which generates t13 under provincial nominees for that he needs to ask his employer to pay the fee.

could be yeah.. but how does my employer send a payment? when I submitted my online application It did not ask for that option

Ok just a sec....CIC only issues PGWP equals to 3 years and 1/or 8 months.
Never heard of this 2 years PGWP.
And for Bridging after PGWP usually 1 year.

I have my first closed work permit in 2012 valid for 2 years.. then applied for another one in 2014 same employer valid for 2 years again. it will expire 2016December.

Yes you do, When you submit your documents it asks for employer payment receipt. I guess it depends on how you filled out your questionnaire so it generates right documents for you.

however, my employer didn't pay that compliance fee at all when I applied for my current work permit in 2014. That's why I have no idea about this fee.

I think they introduced the fee in 2015 AFAIK, that's why your employer didn't pay it in 2014.

I just tried to get a code for closed work permit but it didn't ask me for any restrictions and based on AOR from CIC gave me the option for Open work permit.

You might wanna call CIC and ask for online procedure or apply through paper based application.

Thank You for your information's, I appreciate much.. am so confused now where and how to start again. I don't need a bridging or open work permit.. all I need is closed WP extension couldn't find the proper guide online @CIC. I was thinking if only we could have our PPR before year end this year I should not be worrying about extending my WP :'(

No problem, Start by calling them up first.

I am in the similar boat as well, Background check has been in process since June 17th. I just want them to be a bit more transparent on what's causing soo much delays even for people with clear and straight files.

I hear you. Its so difficult to guess and wait for unknown. Mine all done.. all passed. waiting for finalization. still I needed to secure my status of permit because we are unsure when this PR processing be over.

I will call CIC and update you here. I cant afford to have another mistake and refusal again. waste of money.

Yes.

I paid for closed WP 155$

You application was refused, because your employer did not pay additional fee (I do not remember exactly what is amount, it is around 230 $). Then, You will get a number (it called offer of employment), which you have to include to your application + you need to get a support letter from the province.

Jovi first of all, my sympathy goes to you. Is terrible that you took the time to do the WP application and pay the fee so they will not take the time to properly explain the reason for the refusal. I got my AOR end of January and did my medicals in April. I'm still waiting for PPR. My work permit expires Dec 31st. We can't get the open work permit because there are restriction on the nomination. Along with our application we have to submit the nomination, letter of support from the province, new offer of employment and of course proof employer has paid the compliance fee (in our case, employer is making us pay for that too $230 more)Did you send all of that? if you didn't that is probably why they refused it. But they should have requested additional info instead. At this point if application is closed I don't think there is nothing you can do but re submit with all necessary documents. I really hope the 4 year rule doesn't apply in our case because if it does, we are screw. I have been here since 2012 and this is my 3rd work permit. Can somebody here clarify that 4 year rule? Does that apply if we have already started the pr process? My husband and I arrived March 2012 and because of the changes to WP in 2014 we had to go back home in march 2015 and came back Sept 2015. So right there is 4 years of work permit. I'm starting to freak out now.
