I got my AOR in May but my status has been stuck at " background check needed " : "in progress". I needed background check from a country which required an official request from CIC. Anyone else currently in the same boat?

2016-06-24 CIC received my package
2016-10-06 CIC AOR

Let's keep each other update! CIC received my file on June 24 and I'm still waiting for AOR.... I saw some people got their AOR(their file reached CIC on June 29), hopefully we'll get our AOR this week!

By the way, were you a BC nominee? (I assume from your name ) If so, that means we probably have same timeline

Im also from bc pnp CIC received my file june 30, 2016 they got my payment sept first week.. Until now i haven't receive my AOR..

It has been almost 4 months since CIC received my file. I still have not got any AOR. My provincial nomination certificate expiring soon. Is it a problem if nomination expires before getting AOR thing?

Once CIC receives your application before expiry date, CIC won't return your application.

You are not alone. I am with you in the same boat. I got AOR on 5 of May. My wife and me have together in total 9 police certificates. Does it mean that officers from CIC are going to make their requests to that 9 countries? Any idea? How many police certificates do you have? Thanks

My PR application was received by Nova Scotia office on AUG 27,2016.Still waiting for AOR.I was nominated by Ainp.I have few questions.I am on close work permit now,Can I apply for an open work permit once I Receive my AOR.IF yes then can i change my employer after i get an open work permit...And do i need to inform that to AINP as well after i change my employer???and do i have to work Under same NOC for which i was nominated by AINP or i can just work anywhere?

Hi manijarman,

There are a few things you should know:

• As long as the issuing conditions remain unchanged, a Closed Work Permit may be shared by two different employers. This means that if you find another employer willing to hire you and pay the compliance fee, you can do that
• After receiving the AOR and if your actual Work Permit is expiring in the next four months you can apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit
• I am not sure under which conditions can a person apply for a different Work Permit, but if a new one is issued, you should confirm if there are any restrictions. In my case, for instance, I have an Open Work Permit but I am still bound to work under the same NOC and in the province I have applied. This means that the only thing I am allowed to do is change employer whenever I want to and as many times I want to.
• Usually, a Bridging Work Permit has geographical restrictions. ( you can read about it here )
