In my case, it has been about 7 months since Medical received. keep it positive, my friends. It's coming.

I called and got this from CIC:
The application is in Ottawa and is under initial review. The initial review basically covers security/police checks, the accuracy and consistency of the information provided and checking up the documents. After that the medical request will be sent.

I am waiting for my Medical Request too.

This makes sense since we have been waiting for a month now since AOR.
I guess they now do security/police checks before medical results. Before they would collect medical results/other relevant docs and then send to ottawa for scrutinizing them.
This actually could mean that once they ask for medical results, you are already approved in principle. So processing would be faster. I am just guessing however.

Because I contact CIC today and as per the rep my paper file is at OTTAWA my background and security etc is still in process I have got medicals received 8 months back. however my AOR and medical only took 2 months.

I am not sure anymore of anything......... so frustrated........... Waiting game is no fun......

Looks like all the applicant after July got their AOR after 6-7 months and now waiting for Medical. I feel everyone's pain but do not lose hope guys. :'(

I was talking about people who got AORs after 9 months. In your case, refer to what I said about how they used to process before, ie, collect everything and then send to Ottawa while we have someone who got AOR recently after many months and is already at security/police check without even getting medical request.

I have a closed work permit. And although its expiring in Nov 2016, I am curious whether I can obtain extension through BOWP? I have got AOR for my PNP PR application. I know it wont come to that but just wanna know.

you cannot apply for it. you can do so in July 2016. I also replied where you first posted this...... see that reply for more details.

Thanks. I know I have to apply within 4 months until expiry. I wanted to know that it doesnt matter if I have a Closed work permit to get a bridging Open Wp.

You do not need to worry about that. You will get your PR before NOV 2016 ;D

Yes as long as you have AOR it does not matter what type of current work permit you hold
