05-02-2015 Finally
I have the majority of my FSW paperwork filled out. Though yes, I do realize they aren't accepting applications at the moment. I just fiigured I'd get a leg up and not procrastinate. I am searching jobs daily even though I won't be moving until may/june( hopefully, fingers crossed). Long story short, how do I go about applying for jobs or more to the point, what do I tell potential employers? I have seen job listings that I am perfectly qualified for but obviously I don't have status yet. Do I apply for a temp permit? Would I need to anyway?
I'm planning on heading to the Ottawa area as my boyfriend (a Canadian) and I have friends there. Or should I go through their PNP option? AS I didg deeper it gets more confusing. I just want to make the right decision for me and my boyfriend as we both want to make a life together.
Also, and lastly, my boyfriend is from Quebec and still has family there, is there a certain length of time that I would be required to stay in Ontario? As Quebec is also closer to my family ( but I don't have enough French yet to qualify).
Thanks again all,

You would tell potential employers that you do not have a work permit and that if they want to hire you, a foreigner, they must advertise the job for 2 weeks at market rates and then apply for an LMO. If they get the LMO approved, you can apply for a work permit.

Most employers will not bother with the process as long as they can find someone in Canada who can do that job. You see, it is a requirement of the LMO that they advertised the job and did not find suitable Canadian applicants. If this requirement is not met, the LMO will be refused and they will have wasted their time.

In order to educate potential employers about the LMO process, you should educate yourself by reading a bit. Here are some links: http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/eng/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/temp_assessment.shtml
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/employers/lmo-basics.asp
http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/eng/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/ei_tfw/lmi_tfw.shtml

If you qualify to apply under PNP, then you can do that. However, that usually involves having an employer in the province or having completed some studies. Since you have a Canadian boyfriend, the simplest way for you to immigrate would probably be for him to sponsor you. However, for that, you either have to get married or live together for 12 months that you can prove.

If you immigrate via FSW, you would have to land outside Quebec but after that, nobody will stop you from moving there. If you go through Ontario PNP, you should at least make an attempt to settle in Ontario as per your agreement with PNP and to show your gratitude to them for giving you your PR. The FSW and PNP immigration classes are for people who do not intend to live in Quebec. If you apply through Quebec skilled worker or other Quebec immigration class, you must land in Quebec and should make an attempt to settle there if they were so nice as to give you a PR but you can move away later if you so wish.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply. I will continue my research. At least now I have more of a direction. I do have a college diploma in allied health(With classes such as anatomy and physiology and the like). I have seen many of jobs that I'm qualfied for. I hear that there is shortage of individuals in this field so maybe I'd have a better chance of getting chosen. But you're right, marriage is always an option too. That is our intention in the future. But I want to get in on my own right if possible as I don't want to become his 'dependant' if I don't have to.
