PNP and GC timeline...help

i recently applied for the green card through my employer.also recently i applied for pnp and got the file number. it seems like pnp now a days says that it will take max 8 months after file number in given.

i was wondering once they complete my application process and lets say i get approval, what are the next steps in PNP and how much time they take.....also once a person is nominated, is there a timelimit to goto canada ....if yes then whats that time limit?

i am just tying to calculate the timing of pnp and gc. i recently filed for the gc labor and pnp is my 2nd option. i m currently on h1b

I think it takes 4 more months after you get file number

I heard that plenty of GC LC are getting rejected these days due to the bad economy. You say that you have recently applied for GC, have you checked the visa dates -- EB3 is unavl and EB2 is Jan 2000. So when are you expecting your GC? But good luck to you on your GC dream. I have made AB my primary and GC as a backup, just in case it comes!!!

MHK - Which country are you from (Passport wise) ?

If you are NOT from India, China, Phillippines or Mexico - you should not have any problem getting a US Green Card within 3 years. The backlog(many years) is only if you are from the above 4 countries - all other countries there is no backlog and you should be able to get your GC in 3 years max.

CanSun, Are you sure you mean the Passport wise not the place of birth. My understanding is that even if you are a citizen of other country for e.g. Australia, it does not help you with GC if your place of birth is India (or 3 other countries). I may be wrong on this.

I agree with Divagirl coz keeping in mind the US Green Card process, it looks to be a distant dream. AINP is a great option

You are correct Canada 77. I meant place of birth too - typo - sorry.

Yeah - if you are NOT BORN in those 4 countries - your US GC should not be too long or difficult. I have many friends from Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Sri Lanka and they all got their GCs in 3 years approx recently.

US Greencard waiting Folks:

Don't feel that this will continue. There will be a sudden change in US Immigration policy just like Canadian Immigration policy. Who would have ever thought, he /she will get decision in 12-13 months at New Delhi CHC where website still shows 57-65 months. But this is true fact. After February 28 2008, Applicants at New delhi consulate under 38 occupations FSW program will be able to get decision within 12 months! The time line on website is for those whose applications are already in process from previous years. Same thing is going to happen with US green Card. Authorities in US like Congress, DHS, USCIS are working together on it. Pretty soon it will be enforced where Phd's in STEM (science, technology, Engineering and Maths) will be certainly top priority whether or not thier Nationality is from Mexico, India, China and Philipines. US Green Card process will again be limited to 12-24 months as it used to be decades before.
