Hi Guys,

I'm an int/l student from India in my last sem of Masters prog here in Ontario, and before applying for Ontario Masters PNP, my passport (that expires in Sep 2015) needs to be renewed as the program requires the passport to have a validity of minimum 2 years at the time of application.

Now I have made 2 goofups:

1) While filling in details in the online application form (which is now finalized and generated for printout), I entered my Indian address as the "address to be entered in the passport" and my Canadian address as "other" address since it's only a temporary address. However, later while reading the checklist, I read that they require the present Canadian address to be put as the "address to be entered in new passport" and the Indian address as "other" address. So what do I do now? On a side note, I want my Indian address only to be entered in my new passport, not a stupid temporary address that I won't be living at in a few months time.

2) Since I'm from Ontario, I selected my Mission/center as Toronto, but it seems they don't have postal pickup/delivery service. Only Ottawa, Vancouver and Montreal have postal pickup/delivery service. My friend from Ontario said they sent their app to Ottawa via post but on the website, Ottawa doesn't seem to be serving Ontario jurisdiction. So what's the truth? Can I send my app to Ottawa via post or do I need to physically visit Toronto? Btw, I've already entered Toronto in the finalized application, so not even sure if I can change that.

Whatever address you want to print on your passport, you should have a proof for that.. If you want canadian address to be printed then you need a proof like Driver Licence. Same as for indian address. You can have either one. Not a compulsion. But again you need an address proof.

Toronto does provide the pick up and delivery service for $35 i believe. Link: blsindia-canada.com/vas.php
They dont send your application to ottawa if you have selected you mission to Toronto. Application are processed at Consulate General of India at 365 Bloor Street S, toronto.
Don't send your application to Ottawa if you are fall under Toronto Mission. You can physically go to either location of Bls India office to apply, or choose the pick up and delivery service. For more info you can call at bls-india call centre : +1-416 307 2237

Thank you so much for your response.

But my Indian address is the same old one as my old passport, do I still need proof? And I'm not sure what proof to give, because utility bills of my Indian home don't come in my name. So the only option seems bank statement of my Indian bank a/c which is a headache to get. I've arranged a courier pickup for the passport next week, so I don't have enough time anyway.

What do you think will happen if I send them this application with Canadian address proof but no Indian address proof but mentioning the Indian address as the one I want printed in the passport which is SAME as the one in old passport?

I am not sure about the Indian address, Better give them a call the number i gave you and ask more info. The other thing you can do, send the application with a letter about the address. If they need anything else they will request you later. But i will avoid these things. so give them a call and ask.

I called them, and a rep said to provide address proof only for the Canadian address. I'm not sure how much to trust him though.

Honestly speaking, I dont trust them either. I called many times to ask same thing, and got different answers. And when i went in physically , i got another answer. Even they dont know what is the procedure. Their checklist was incomplete and not very helpful. They asked me some documents which were not mentioned in checklist. I told them show me where they are in checklist and got replied, aise thoda hota hai ji.. Especially CGI people are RUDE !!!...

If you are single then you dont need to worry. It was something to add spouse name and about the document attestation procedure ( for married ones only).
But for sure they are stupid and RUDE!!
