Hi guys! My wife, who I'm sponsoring is undergoing her medical exams at St. Luke's Manila. At first her X ray is cloudy (suspicion of TB) so the DMP advised her to have a sputum test. We complied and both smear and culture came out NEGATIVE (she does not smoke, drink nor have a TB history.) She was advised to do a repeat Xray which came out to be better than the first one (significantly less cloudy. Now, the DMP still insist that she should do a 6 months TB treatment despise the fact that they told us that if the sputum culture comes up negative and the repeat x ray is favorable, the treatment is not necessary. They have been pressuring us to take treatment even before the results of the sputum culture came out and even giving us deadlines to decide right away. We feel pressured and helpless. Please help as this is the only sensible and knowledgeable place to consult. Thanks!!!!!

Do you have to pay for this treatment? if so it seems the office might be trying to make a little extra money.

Is the medical complete yet ?

Perhaps let your sponsor know as well and have him/her call CIC just to let them know of the current situation of what that clinic is doing.

If it is complete have them upload the results to the e-medical system.

My wife had her medical at IOM Manila and they told her the same thing, maybe there is traces of TB. Although they didn't request for further tests, she passed medical according to CIC.
I saw many cases of medicals in Philippines where they are suspecting TB, looks like they are making money on TB treatments.
All the tests came negative and your X-rays are fine so just ask them to upload your file at e-medical and get your receipt, you need to include that with your application if you didn't apply yet.

I've heard too that some places try to make extra money off you.

As Edgehead78 says, tell them to upload her results on the system and get a receipt. If they refuse, ask for the doctor's name or whoever responsible who makes that decision, because you are going to take it up with CIC. I'd think they would back down then - they don't want to lose this lucrative practice.

Yes definitely we have to pay for treatment. At first, they said 30,000 pesos which is roughly $800, then they recant the charges and lowered it down to 9,000 pesos because the outcome of repeat xray is better than the previous one. Plus, its not just the payment its also the inconvenience of having to go there everyday to take medications. She has to travel 3 hours one way just to get there (btw, you cant have treatment anywhere else they say, just with them) and she's a busy woman. Imagine going there everyday for six months and taking medications for an ailment you don't have. This is not right and it should be brought up to the Immigration office. We want to file a complaint but don't know where to start. Another thing, her 3 year old son must consult a pedia psychologist cause he can't utter a clear word yet. His motor skills are okay but they said that he could be autistic. He is a non accompanying dependent. Also, a multitude amount of immunizations must be taken by them. We started her medical exams in August and it's been 3 months now and no clear answer on when it's gonna be done. Thanks for the reply guys. We are so pissed off and lost but it's good to know that we can get clear opinions and support here. CIC call center is "hands off" on the matter.

Money grab!!!.......... Refuse treatment and insist they upload your medicals they can not refuse to send the e-medical.

"hands off" in what way?
The sponsor can call CIC and launch a formal complaint how things are being done at this authorized clinic for immigration.

I would suggest the sponsor contact his MP and tell him or her that you think the DMP is trying to cheat you by charging for unneeded treatment. At the very least, the MP should know or be able to find out how to complain about this.

Aright another one ...Who ever this is happening to please tell your sponsor about this and to contact CIC and launch a complaint!! They are taking advantage of applicants. The panel doctors are there to conduct immigration physicals and to upload the results only.

WOW, I don't even know what to say aside from I would be emailing the MP and CC'ing the Minister of Immigration. This is really unacceptable and those Dr's need to be removed from the approved list of Dr's.

Will we get a receipt when indicating that they have submitted the results to e-medical and to CIC? Can you confirm?
