Hello there. I am Refugee Claimant since 03/2011 and I am still waiting for my hearing. My grandma is very sick-brain tumor and she needs surgery. Because it is for the second time in about six months, doctors are not positive she can handle the second surgery. I want to see my grandma because I love her and she grows me up. Do you know am I eligible for travel document to travel before the hearing or any way to travel. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

You leave Canada prior to your hearing, your Refugee claim will be considered abandoned.

It would also nullify the fact you are a genuine refugee claimant because Immigration will think if you can go visit your grandma then whats stopping you from going on vacation, its obviously safe to return to your country.

Yes you are a refugee, if you leave canada thats it, you will not be able to come back, its better to wait for your hearing

You will not be able to get a travel document before your hearing, by the way, where is your grandma? is she in the country that you fear to return?

You don't qualify for a travel document as a refugee claimant. You have two choices:

1) Remain in Canada and continue with your refugee claim
2) Leave Canada and abandon your refugee claim

These are your only choices.

no, she will get surgery in another country, no the country i am from.

It doesn't matter where she is located. If you leave Canada your refugee claim will be abandoned.

Trust me, you will not be able to get a travel document, you can only get a travel document if you are a protected/conventional refugee.
