I also notice that you have not landed, most of apartment managers will not give apartment on rent on phone. For new immigrants without a job they may ask for $$ in bank account.
Although you have not asked, but I fell telling you that apartment managers ask for contract for a year, it is better to go for monthly rent basis initially. Independent home owners do agree for month to month rent.

can you share any link / info for the short term rentals(other than safehomestay and studio6), ...like for two months. Thanks
