I got an offer of admission for BFA photography but couldn't attend the program as I was approved the study permit. It was refused most probably because I have other BSc which is not obviously related to the one I applied with. The refusal letter mentions about 'employment prospect in the resident country.'. I have already ordered GCMS. I have communicated with the University and they won't defer the offer since the course is highly competitive. I need to apply and submit my portfolio once again in the next year.

I really don't have any strength to go through with all those hassles of submitting the portfolio and all and end up with refusal again.

So I'm thinking about applying with masrte's (in case I get an offer of admission) and most importantly with one related to my previous studies.

Need opinion from the experts. Please suggest me what should I do.

I'm no expert but I suggest you to work or do a small certificate course related to photography and then reapply with strong SOP. It is advisable to get a job offer letter from someone which states that they will employ you after your studies. In that way, you can show a logical progression in your career. However, GCMS may address the exact concerns of the Visa Officer. As far as I know, it is too late to apply for study permit for this intake. I'm sorry that you have to go through all these hassles. Just hang in there, buddy!

I guess ultimately you need to ask yourself what your long term career goals/employment prospects are in your home country and how those benefit by completing a course in Canada.

If your only goal for example is to attend a course for a PGWP and then eventually apply for PR then maybe it makes more sense to apply for a masters related to your degree with more chance of a successful study permit application.

In your post you do not mention whether you are or have been employed already in some photography capacity as that might have strengthened your case as far as career progression.

Thanks for the reply. I work as a freelance photographer. Wanted to carry forward this as my profession. But now I'm devastated after getting refusal. Stopped thinking about photography.
Now I have decided to get a master's degree in my previous field of study. I need a master's degree anyway since my BSc result is not upto my expectation as had some issues during the course which hampered the result.
But what I'm more concerned about is will my previous application affect my new application.

Thank you so much for the reply and suggestion.
I really don't want to go with Photography ever again since the university has refused to defer. Other than that I won't be able to apply before the next fall, so 1 year will be wasted. And on top of that, there is no guarantee that I will be approved the study permit that time. Most probably it will end up as refusal once again.
