Hi Bryanna,

You have been very patiently responding to my queries and trust me they sound very convincing and logical. My feeling is that I am not still able to present a convincing case for my IL for visitors Visa. Although I am doing my best to attach all available documentation, they are not sufficient enough to establish a strong social ties with their home country. Usually People do not buy medical insurance for TRV (< 6 months) but I am doing it (spending 1400 CAD from Canadian Insurance Company).

As suggested in your previous post, I should ask for at max 2 -3 weeks and provide detail itinerary. I know 2 -3 weeks would definitely wont work for us but as you mentioned if the application is looked upon favourably, they might issue longer Visa and possibly multiple entry Visa. And so I am ready to do so as well.

All sounds really good.. but at the end we both are not convinced that a strong case has been put here.

Now a quick question- Why not I go for Super Visa? I am anyway buying medical insurance so I only have to get them to do medical. Based on my knowledge on Super Visa (acquired from this forum) is concerned, Super Visa would be better bet in my case (my wife being single child + my IL no having solid social ties).

What do you think and advise?

Hi,

You're most welcome :)

Quite honestly, I do agree with you that your in-laws' ties to India need to be stronger.... it is not a lost case though :)

As for buying travel medical insurance, it's a small amount to pay.... one can enjoy a stress-free vacation.... and avoid burning a hole in the pocket should an emergency arise.

Even if you opt for Super Visas.... your in-laws still need to show strong ties to India.... along with the regular points that a visa officer considers..... also, the host must meet the LICO limits

A few questions.... if it can help to prove stronger ties:
Is your mother-in-law a joint owner in the residential property? Or is she a nominee as per the records? Is it a housing society? Does she have Associate Membership, if it is a housing society?

Do your in-laws have any share in maybe some ancestral property?

Does your mom-in-law hold sole ownership bank accounts? Joint ownership bank accounts with your father-in-law?

As your in-laws live alone.... without their only child/your wife since XX years.... then they must have closer family ties to their other immediate family/siblings and their children/extended family/old friends.... if you understand what I mean

As your father-in-law is a member of stock exchange, is he required to attend any meetings by XX date of that stock exchange?.... which would imply he must return by that date

Does your father-in-law hold an officer bearer position in the Lions Club? Are there any major events scheduled by the Club? Or any major on-going projects for which he is required to participate/organize/etc?

As an LIC insurance agent, is your father-in-law likely to get any commission shortly? This will boost his financial situation + no one will want to lose such a monetary amount by remaining in Canada

Scenario 1:
Assuming a situation where your mom-in-law applies first..... then her individual ties to India/her financial situation/documentation needs to be strong.... in this case, a family tie would be your father-in-law in India besides other extended family, etc

Scenario 2:
If your mom-in-law does not have a strong finances then she can apply with your father-in-law who will be the main applicant.

In this case, your father-in-law must demonstrate his employment/property/finances/extended family/Lions Club + Stock Exchange Membership, etc paperwork + evidence very well

Hope this helps

Hi Bryanan,

I have taken a decision to proceed further with whatever we have and do our best to present them in best possible ways. We are going for TRV for the duration 12 - 14 weeks and showing 12000 CAD in Bank statement as an evidence to support the stay. We have also bought Ovwerseas medical insurance for the duration. Also a valid/confirmed ticket.

Please review the cover Letter for the application. I tried to keep it very simple ..please see below.

Hi Braynan,

I got a sample invitation letter form one of my friend and that is addressed to Visa office. I don't think thats correct. Could you please help me to re-word the letter so that I address to my In Law and still able to provide other information (medical insurance, valid/return ticket) to Visa officer

Hi,

My advice is 12-14 weeks is quite a long duration to ask for..... but it's your call

TRVs are not issued for the exact duration requested.... that's to say, if your in-laws ask for 2-3 weeks then they will get TRVs for at least 6 months if they prove strong ties.

I suggest making a few changes to the Cover Letter:
a. This letter should be individual ones..... mentioning the other in-law is accompanying the one for whom the cover letter is made

b. Your in-laws residential address at the top right of the page + telephone number

c. Subject: Request for a Single Entry Canada Temporary Resident Visa (TRV)

d. Mention that your in-laws have never applied for a Canada TRV or Super Visa earlier

e. Bullet-point details for both Applicants 1 and 2 ie Name/Date of Birth/Nationality/Passport Number/ Relationship to other applicant...... for Host: Name/Status in Canada/Nationality (if not citizen)/Passport Number/Employer/Job Title/Current Annual Salary/Relationship

f. Set out in separate sections (very briefly, bullet points):
- Purpose of Visit
- Finances/Ticket Bookings/Travel Insurance/Funds for Our Canada Visit (in INR and CAD)
- Our Strong Ties to Our Home Country viz. India
- My Employment and Professional Ties
- Why we must return to India by XX date

g. Separate the list of documents stated into Applicant documents + Host documents

h. In your in-laws list: Do add your father-in-law's employment/agent appointment letter.... Lions Club membership..... any other evidence to prove stronger ties

Are you inviting your in-laws? Or your wife? Or both of you? You must provide photocopy of status in Canada + if both are inviting then photocopy of your marriage certificate/status of both/financial details of both if finances are not as per LICO (although LICO eligibility is for super visas), etc

It's best to ask for Single Entry..... as mentioned earlier, the visa officer will evaluate and grant single/multiple entry TRVs

Hope the plane tickets and travel medical insurance are refundable..... or dates can be changed without incurring high costs

All the best :)

Thanks a lot ..

Hi Brayanan,

I am going for 3-4 weeks..and that makes more sense. I should be able to provide day - to - day itinerary with expense ..and it looks more reasonable form vistor visa point iof view.

I do have a questions though, if VO decides to grant visa, what would be the duration of Visa?

Visa validity + single/multiple entry depends on the assessment made by the visa officer

If the applicants have very strong ties to their home country + the host is a well settled PR/citizen and related to the applicants.... then it is possible to get TRVs for the full validity of the passports
