I am trying to find the residency obligations to satisfy the 2 year period with canadian PR and came across this site:

http://www.settlement.org/sys/faqs_detail.asp?faq_id=4000181

It reads as follows:
"If you are outside Canada for extended periods of time, you can accumulate residency days if you are:

* Travelling with a Canadian spouse or common-law partner, or are a child accompanying a parent, or
* Employed on a full-time basis by a Canadian business or the Public Service of Canada, or
* The spouse, common-law partner or child of a permanent resident who is outside Canada and who is employed on a full-time basis by a Canadian business or the Public Service of Canada."

My situation is this: I was hired and have been working with Nortel, a Canadian company, in their US branch on H1 since past couple of years. Since I am employed by a Canadian company, does that count as time that I can use towards my PR? Please provide some details on how this employment clause works or if there is some other discussion on this topic let me know

Please let me know since this is a factor for me to decide whether its worth sticking to the company or just move on ..

!. If you were hired in Canada by Nortel and then transferred to the US operation, it will count toward your residency, if you were hired in the US by Nortel, then it doesn't

Hi Teena

I'm in same situation, were you able to get your PR renewed by this arrangement? Please help as I'm very curious to know on this.

Thanks!
